Tamari? Tell me about it!
What is Tamari? Tamari, or more commonly known as Tamari shoyu is a Japanese sauce, primarily made from fermented soybeans. It has a thicker consistency and hence, a richer taste and flavour which makes it the perfect dipping sauce for finger foods. Tamari can be used straight from the bottle, or simply add a sprinkle of salt to enjoy a more savoury taste.
Tamari VS Soya Sauce The biggest difference between tamari and other soy sauces in the market is the ingredients used in the manufacturing of the sauces. Tamari is often produced without the use of wheat, whereas other soy sauces can comprise up to 50% of wheat. In addition, Tamari has fewer ingredients, containing only water, soybeans and salt.
How to use Tamari
Dipping Sauce Tamari Sauce also complements well with Sushi, which makes it a great substitute for Shoyu since it doesn’t overwhelm the fish with saltiness.
